New Camera |
|
|
Lesson learned two cameras and one computer ago when I dropped my favorite camera in the lake, and dropped my laptop on the tile floor within 6 months, insure both for under 50 bucks a year. Now when the latest camera broke its shutter button for the 2nd time yesterday one call to the insurance company took care of the issue. Make sure your prized electronics are on your homeowners policy for a round sum not what they are worth when they dropped in the lake. One trip to Walmart took care of the need to be committed everytime I saw a photo moment and had no camera.
The new camera is a Cannon with a 10 times zoom and enough bells and whistles I hope to keep me busy figuring them out. I will miss my old Sony Cyber Shot but it was time for a change
Any ideas on this bird? I was testing the camera out and caught this bird not the best pic but it was this one or nothing today. Troy had it identified
When will the insurance companies figure out the cost of insuring my cameras is not the best investment |

Rainbow Flowage Part 2 Mr Owl and Mr Turtle Caches Updated |
|
|
We headed out for a Geo Cache for Mothers Day to find Mr Owl and Mr Turtle Geo Caches on the Rainbow Flowage (new to the blog and wondering what I am talking about check out www.geocaching.com) . We had already found Mr Squirrel a month a go or so. The views on the Flowage are amazing everywhere you look
We found this pretty feather among a bunch of small ones. I think a bird of prey found something small to eat along the flowage. The amount of wildlife on the flowage is amazing to see
It is not a manicured park remains of the wild are seen everywhere. Hey was that a wolf I heard....funny Jake
Mr Owl was spotted and the log was signed. This eye was peaking at us from behind a tree
According to the GPS Mr Turtle was 464 feet across the bay. Couldn't be far I said.........
We started out try on the other side of the bay with just a little bit of grass and trees ahead of us. Couldn't be that far.
The scream heard around the world happened just 10 minutes later. Give me a dead deer head or the remains of a bird any day over this little slithery snake. Poe was all about checking it out. After seeing this snake the grass started to look like a minefield of snakes and we walked much faster
Anyone seen Poe?
We made it out to a very quiet and wild end of the flowage with no evidence of humans in sight. It was a beautiful area. We had .1 miles to go along the shoreline to Mr Turtle's cache.
My favorite view was the ghost town of stumps we found along the edge of the flowage. We passed about 10 of these old stumps from the past. I assume they are left over from when the flowage was first flooded. Between the wildlife and views the Rainbow was quite a place to check out
Finally Mr Turtle was spotted along the shoreline. We signed the cache, enjoyed the view and headed back over the grasslands to the van. Quick stop at Hoggie Doggie's on Hwy J for the first icecream cone of the season. For now the caches on the Rainbow have been conquered I hear there are 2 new ones on the Raven Trail and no snakes. |

Want to fight for a spot on the beach? |
|
|
Came down to the beach this morning to find a sunbather catching some rays. I was not going to fight with him for a spot on the beach
Poe decided he would throw caution to the wind and check out this new beach goer. His nose survived the ordeal with his nose still attached.
Troy had disturbed the home of the crawfish by straightening the docks
Troy's favorite job at the resort
The change of orange on the raft. Be prepared for change after 50 years |

Signs of Spring docks to blooms |
|
|
Shoreline is starting to look more like summer. Blue Dock is 80% in the last section requires a bathing suit to put it in
White dock a 3 man job is waiting for a nice day, Craig, Steve and Troy. Maybe next Tuesday
5 boats rolled into the water when Troy straightened all the little docks from the winter ice. No oars or anchors but they are in the water
Bayview in the morning sun
Wildstrawberries planted last fall are coming back and poking through along with Sweet Woodruff below
